Garnet Post Personal-Bests

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Three Swarthmore runners earn personal-bests while competing with Division I opponents at the Sam Howell Memorial Invitational on late Friday evening.

Weller ‘08Junior Caitlin Mullarkey (Wilmington, Del. / Ursuline Academy) ran a personal-best 4:48.84 to earn tenth place overall in the women’s 1,500 meter run. With this time she qualifies for the Centennial Conference Championship meet and also enters the Swarthmore women’s top ten-list with the third fastest time in the program’s history.

Also, running a personal-best was sophomore Nyika Corbett (Myrtle Point, Ore. / Myrtle Point) in the women’s 5,000 meter run with a race-time of 18:20.42. Corbett’s finish time earned her the program’s fourth fastest time. Junior Bess Ritter (Quaker Hill, Conn. / Wasterford) crossed the finish line at 19:11.90.

Ross Weller ’08 (McConnellsburg, Pa. / Mercersburg) (pictured left) finished tenth overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best 9:27.88. The finish-time marks the Garnet men’s top ten list at fourth fastest time.

The Garnet track and field teams will compete in the Osprey Open held at Richard Stockton on Saturday, April 5.
