Riley Named Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Swarthmore utility softball player Kathryn Riley was named Centennial Conference Player of the Week for the week of March 24-30, as announced by the Conference office Monday.

Kathryn Riley ‘10Riley (Dagsboro, Del. / Indian River), a sophomore, hit .571 (12 for 21) in seven games this past week, bashing two home runs with seven runs scored and five RBIs. The highlight of the week came in an 8-2 win over Arcadia on March 26 when she was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a solo home run and two runs scored.

Riley currently leads the Conference in doubles (eight), RBIs (19), total bases (40) and slugging percentage (.678) while ranking second in home runs (three) and third in hits (23).

This is Riley’s second weekly honor from the Conference—she was named Co-Pitcher of the Week on March 24.

The Garnet are 11-8 overall in 2008, with a 1-1 mark in the young Centennial schedule, and resume play this Thursday at Rosemont and then again on Saturday with a home double header with Gettysburg at 1:00 p.m.
