Kramer, Parikh Make Doubles Finals

SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Swarthmore badminton players Kim Kramer '10 and Maithili Parikh '11 reached the women's doubles final at the 2008 USA Badminton National Collegiate Championships this past weekend in Tarble Pavilion.

Kramer (Bethesda, Mary. / Winston Churchill) and Parikh (Mumnai, India / Dhirubhai Ambani International School) won three matches in the championship draw before falling to the champions from University of California-Berkeley, Daphne Ng and Teresa Lin, by the score of 21-12 and 21-11.

The Garnet duo battled back down one game in the quarterfinals to defeat Victoria Liu and Agnes Wong from UC-Irvine on Saturday afternoon by scores of 14-21, 21-17 and 21-17. Kramer and Parikh then rallied past Hanae Fujinami and Sophia Law from UC-Berkeley 12-21, 21-17 and 21-19. Fujinami had paired with Ng to win the 2007 women’s doubles title, hosted at Berkeley.
