Rowan Sweeps Garnet Swim Teams
SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Rowan University swimming swept Swarthmore Saturday afternoon at Ware Pool. The women (4-2) suffered a close defeat by the score of 104-101, while the men (2-4) lost 125-80.
Sophomore Anne Miller (Buffalo, N.Y. / Buffalo Seminary) led the Garnet women by collecting victories in the 200 Freestyle (1:59.33) and 100 Butterfly (59.54). Franny Zhang ’08 (Piscataway, N.J. / The Peddie School) also earned an individual victory in the 100 Freestyle (55.72). The team of Allie Jordan ’11 (Niskayuna, N.Y. / Niskayuna), Stephanie Su ’11 (Parsippany, N.J. / Parsippany Hills), Casey Osborn ’10 (Albany, Calif. / Albany), and Claire Shelden ‘10 (Lewistown, Mont. / Fergus) captured the 200 Medley relay for the home squad.
On the men’s side, senior Andrew Frampton (Silver Spring, Mary. / Gonzaga College) was the only multiple winner for Swarthmore. He placed first in the 500 (4:58.13) and 1000 (10:15.33) Freestyle races. Doug Gilchrist-Scott ’09 (Canton, Ohio / Hoover) took home the only other victory for the men in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 56.59.
Both teams will take a break for the holidays before embarking on a 10-day training trip to Puerto Rico January 9-18. They will return to Ware Pool on January 26 for a non-conference tilt with Cabrini College.
