Darby Day at Jack Pyrah Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. -- Connor Darby '09 won the 800-meter race for Swarthmore on Friday evening at the Villanova University Jack Pyrah Invitational hosted at Haverford College. The Garnet competed against Division I schools La Salle, Villanova, Delaware and Temple as well as Division III schools Haverford, Franklin & Marshall and Widener.

Darby was the sole Garnet winner of the evening’s invitational. With a race time of 2:01.59 Darby out ran Delaware’s freshman classmates Mike Tait (2:02.46) and Steve Vincent ’11 (2:02.51).

Placing second in women’s 3,000-meter run was Nyika Corbett ’10 who posted a 10:57.35 race time. Also with a second place finish for the Garnet was Lauren DeLuca ’10 who completed her 800-meter race just behind La Salle’s junior Meghan Hobson at 2:26.39. Cait Mullarkey ’09 ran the mile in 5:32.20 to place seventh overall and finishing right behind her was classmate Kathy Feeney with a 5:36.68 race time.

Swarthmore indoor track will continue their season after the New Year when they travel to University of Delaware on January 12.
