Blue Jays Fly Out With a Win
SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Swarthmore (1-2) fell to Elizabethtown (2-1) 84-51 in a women's basketball non-conference game; Garnet first-year forward Kathryn Stockbower recorded her second career double-double Tuesday night in Tarble Pavilion.
The Blue Jays scored 19 second-chance points while knocking down 12 off the fast break. Holding a 32-22 lead, Elizabethtown went on an eight-point run to start the half, never surrendering the advantage. Blue Jay senior Erin Walton (Columbus, N.J. / Northern Burlington county) scored a game-high 26 points while posting eight rebounds. Junior Megan Quinn (Millersville, Pa. / Penn Manor) had 10 points and dished out three assists.
Stockbower led the Garnet offense with a team-high 16 points and 15 caroms, shooting 7-for-10 from the field. Classmate Ceylan Bodur (Istanbul, Turkey / Robert College) proved to be a formidable threat, adding 13 points.
Swarthmore will begin their Centennial Conference schedule on Tuesday, Nov. 27 when they host McDaniel at Tarble Pavilion with a tip-off time of 7:00 p.m.
