SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Swarthmore used goals from Dylan Langley '10 and Ladule Lako Lo Sarah '09 to advance past visiting Cabrini 2-0 in quarterfinal action of the 2007 ECAC Southern Region men's soccer championship at brisk Clothier Field Wednesday night.

The Garnet, the top seed, improve to 12-3-3 overall and will host semifinal and final action this weekend. Swarthmore faces Westminster (11-6-3) on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 1:00 p.m. in one semi-final while Frostburg State (11-8-1) squares off against Penn State-Altoona (16-5) at 3:30 p.m.

The Cavaliers conclude the 2007 season with a 16-5 overall record.

The first half of Wednesday night’s game was rather uneventful with each team firing off five shots.

The first goal of the night came of a corner kick in the 59th minute. Swarthmore junior midfielder Evan Nesterak (Parker, Colo. / Ponderosa) sent a ball to the near post, where Langley (pictured above) leaped to volley the ball home at 58:21. It is the third goal of the season for Langley.

Swarthmore made it a two-goal differential in the 79th minute when freshman Toby Resch (Darmstadt, Germany / Ludwig-Georgs) sped to the end line, drawing the Cabrini goalie off his line. Resch touched the ball back in front of an open goalmouth and Lako Lo Sarah hammered it home for his team-leading eighth goal of the season.

Garnet goalkeeper Ryan Sutcliffe (Milford, Del. / Milford) posted three saves for his sixth shutout of the season while Cavalier counterpart Bryan Johnson (Drexel Hill, Pa. / Upper Darby) registered five stops.

This is the second time the Garnet will host the ECAC Southern Championships—Swarthmore made it to the championship match in 2004, falling 3-1 to Wesley.
