Saka, Weller Storm Thru Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Swarthmore runners Erik Saka ' 09 and Ross Weller '08 placed in the top-ten at the DeSales Invitational Saturday morning, leading the Garnet men's cross country team to a third-place finish out of 20 participating schools.

The College of New Jersey won the team competition with 71 points, edging Salisbury (72 points) and Swarthmore (79 points). Salisbury sophomore Eric Graves captured the individual title with a time of 26:23.

Saka circled the 8K course in a time of 27:01, finishing ninth out of 184 runners. Weller finished right on Saka's heels with a time of 27:10 for tenth place. Garnet freshman Patrick Hartnett (15th, 27:30) and senior Micky Katz (18th, 27:48) cracked the top-20 while junior Dan Hodson placed 30th with a time of 28:25.

The Garnet have two weeks to prepare for the 2007 Centennial Conference Championships, scheduled to be run on Saturday, Oct. 27 in Lancaster, Pa. at 11:00 a.m.
