Mules Slip Past Swarthmore

ALLENTOWN, Pa,- Muhlenberg (10-3, 6-0 CC) picked a Centennial Conference 2-1 win over Swarthmore (5-8, 2-4 CC) on Wednesday evening.

The Mules out-shot the Garnet 10-5 in the first half of play. At the 10:43 mark, Mules sophomore Kristen Sabia (Wind Gap Pa./ Pen Argyl) finished off a pass from sophomore Nicole Notarianni (Clarks Summit, Pa./ Abington Heights).

With 18 seconds left on the clock in the first half, Swarthmore's Abbie Fischer '08 (Sudbury, Mass. / Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) tipped in a pass from Ashley Gunter '09 (Crisfield, Md./ Worcester Prep) to make a quick contact for the Garnet goal.

The first half ended with a 1-1 tie.

The game-winning goal for the Mules came at 63:32 when Notarianni notched her 10th goal of the season.

Freshman Garnet goalie Katie Ashmore (Princeton, N.J./ Princeton) had 10 saves while. Mules' junior goalie Michelle Consigiglio (Ramsey, N.J./ Ramsey) posted three saves.

Swarthmore field hockey is taking the weekend off but will continue play on Wednesday, Oct. 17 when they host defending national champion Ursinus at Clothier Field with a 7:30 start.
