Ladule Exhibits Pride, Garnet Win 2-0
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore Garnet (5-1-2) beat the Widener Pride (3-4) 2-0 on a warm and clear night at Clothier Field.
Seconds into the game Stu Leon '09 (Wrentham, Mass./ King Philip Regional) made the first attempt to get a goal, but found the post instead. Junior Ladule Lako Lo Sarah (Davis, Calif./ Claremont) then knocked an unassisted goal in the back of the net with 00:19 on the clock. The Garnet closed the first half with a 1-0 lead over the Pride
Halfway through the second half, a long pass from Leon found Lo Sarah for his second goal of the night. The Pride goalie came out of goal to attempt to save the ball but Sarah chipped it over his head at the 64:27 mark.
Swarthmore senior goalie Ryan Sutcliffe (Milford, Del./ Milford) had four saves, marking his third shutout of the season. Sophomore goalie Marty Squicciari (Cali, Colombia/ Colegio Bolivar) had three saves for Widener.
The Garnet play their next match on the road when they visit Centennial Conference team Dickinson on Sept. 22 at 2:30 p.m.
