Garnet Women Run Away from Bears



MATCH RESULTS

SWARTHMORE, Pa.  -- The 14th ranked Garnet (6-3, 4-1 CC) dominated their afternoon match-up against the Ursinus Bears (2-7, 1-3 CC), clinching a 9-0 victory. Regionally-ranked players Sara Sargent '07 and Waverly Lutz '07 reeled in wins in both doubles and singles, as did Jamie Midyette '08, Marissa Lee '09, Rebecca Commito '10, and Kearney Bangs '10.

At No.1 doubles, Lutz and Sonya Reynolds '07 thrashed Ursinus' Jenna Hope and Jill Alspach, by a score of 8-0. Midyette and Lee displayed similar skill as they took the No. 2 doubles by the count 8-1. Freshman pair Commito and Bangs claimed the No.3 doubles match with a commanding 8-3 finish.

In single's action, Sargent's quick, smart tennis bought her a 6-0, 6-0 victory, as she failed to give up a single game. Lutz, Midyette, Lee, Commito, and Bangs all played impressive tennis, as they managed to cede a mere seven games collectively.

The Garnet will take a break from conference action and host #10 Mary Washington on Frirday, April 6. The match will commence at 3:00 p.m.
