#5 Diplomats Rush Past Garnet

LANCASTER, Pa. -- The Garnet women's lacrosse team faced its second top-five opponent in a week, falling to fifth-ranked Franklin & Marshall 16-4 in Centennial action Thursday afternoon.

Swarthmore senior midfielder Katie Crawford led the Garnet (5-4 overall, 0-2 CC) with a goal and an assist.

The Diplomats (8-0 overall, 3-0 CC) picked up 11 unanswered goals in the first half while out-shooting the visiting Garnet 19-3.  Sophomore Sarah Meisenberg tallied two of the first three goals as F&M took the 11-0 advantage into halftime.

The Garnet scored the first three goals of the second half, picking up scores from Megan Sanborn '08, Crawford, and Anna de Regt '09.  Senior Athena Samaras scored her 14th goal of the season to cap Swarthmore's out-put.

Susannah Blair '08 made three saves in the first half for the Garnet while freshman back-up Allison Grein made five stops in the second half.

Swarthmore continues its six-game road trip on Saturday, March 31 at Dickinson.  The first draw is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
