COMPLETE DOUBLES RESULTS
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Swarthmore seniors Sonya Reynolds and Sara Sargent won the Doubles Championship at the Wilson ITA Southeast Regionals on the campus of Mary Washington Monday afternoon.
By winning the Southeast Regional at the end of September, Reynolds and Sargent earn All-American status for the 2006-07 season. The duo are the first Swarthmore women to earn the distiction in doubles competition. Reynolds was also an All-American for singles play in 2004-05.
Reynolds and Sargent defeated the top-seeded pair from Carnegie Mellon, Mona Iyer and Amy Stolach, 8-5 to earn an invitation to the ITA Fall Nationals at Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, FL on October 12-15.
The pair are the first Swarthmore doubles' combination to win the Doubles' Championship; Anjani Reddy '04 captured the singles' championship at the ITA Southeast Regionals in 2000. Sargent won the 2005 Centennial Conference Doubles' title, the last of the individual championships, while Reynolds has been named First Team All-Centennial in doubles each of the past three seasons.
Reynolds, seeded third, also reached the semifinal round in singles' action before falling to No. 2 seed Katie Tabb from Washington & Lee 6-3, 6-0.
