Men’s Tennis Hosts 2006 Swarthmore Invite
SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Swarthmore men's tennis held its annual Swarthmore Invitational over the weekend of September 16 , hosting University of Delaware, the College of New Jersey, Temple University, and longtime Centennial Conference rival Haverford College.
Delaware took home wins for six of the eight flights. The victors included Matthew Liebman (7-5, 6-2), Sam Barrer (6-2, 6-4), Camilo Perez (6-2, 6-4), Jason Hanschmann (6-1, 6-3), Zach Chafitz (7-5, 6-1), and Josh Levine (6-2, 6-0).
Garnet sophomore Mark Greenburg defeated Kellan Webb of Haverford College 6-4, 6-2. Greenburg went on to wear out Temple University's Zach Tobias, and managed to make it to flight E, but fell there to Delaware's Perez.
The Delaware Blue Hens were not the only players to take home wins. In fact, the highest honor—a victory in flight A, went to New Jersey Lion Michael Klimchak (6-4, 3-6 (8)). Haverford Ford Alex Buxbaum served his way to victory, taking the flight C win 6-4, 6-1.
