SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Arcadia first basemen Jenn Compton had two doubles and a home run, powering the Scarlet Knights (12-2) to a Sunday afternoon sweep of a doubleheader with Swarthmore. Arcadia won game one 3-0 and then followed up with an 8-0 victory in the second game.
In game one, Arcadia got two runs of four hits in the fourth inning off Garnet starter Emily Walz '08. The Knights added another in the sixth when Dana Shay scored on a Jaime Beer double.
Swarthmore got a pair of hits from starting pitcher Walz in the first game; it was the first two career hits for Walz.
Game two turned on a six-run fifth, as Arcadia jumped on Garnet starter Marianne Klingaman for six hits.
Third baseman Melissa LaVan had a pair of hits for the Garnet (8-7) in the second game.
Swarthmore travels to Widener University for its next game, scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28.
