Fords Take Down Swarthmore
Haverford defeated Swarthmore 3-1 in a rowdy Tarble Pavilion on Senior Night this evening. The Fords (17-8, 7-2 CC) downed the Garnet by scores of 30-12, 30-22, 22-30, 30-22.
Middle blocker Karen Berk '08 put home a team-high 14 kills and had six blocks as Swarthmore fell to 13-14 overall and 6-4 in the Centennial. Outside hitter Jennifer Wang '09 had 12 kills and 14 digs while junior Erica George had a team-high 26 digs.
Setter Emily Conlon '06 handed out 43 assists and recorded 14 digs for Swarthmore in her final regular season match in Tarble Pavilion.
Five Swarthmore seniors; manager Jonna Seavey, Conlon, Patrice Berry, Darcy Nelson, and Yaprak Sariisik were honored before the match with flowers and a hearty applause from the 125 fans in Tarble.
Swarthmore will have to wait for the final conference matches to take place before learning its playoff fate. The Garnet will take the court on Wednesday, November 2nd and the opponent and site are still to be determined.
