Gallagher Flies at Haverford
Swarthmore had four runners finish in the top 25, including a sixth-place finish by freshman Brianne Gallagher, at the Haverford Invitational on Friday afternoon.
The Invitational featured teams from Villanova, Temple, College of New Jersey, Haverford, Widener, Elizabethtown, and Bryn Mawr. This marked the first official race of the 2005 season for the Garnet.
Gallagher was very impressive in her collegiate debut, running sub-six minute splits over the three-mile course (17:56.60), and was the first Division III runner (sixth overall) to finish.
Emma Stanley, another first-year, finished in 19th (18:54.50), just ahead of teammate Debbie Farrelly '06 (18:57.90), while senior Sarah Hobbs '06 followed in 24th position in a time of 19:12.70.
In their next race the Garnet will compete in the Dickinson Long/Short Meet on October 1 at 10:30 a.m.
