Garnet Roll Past Cavaliers
The Swarthmore (5-2) volleyball team opened its defense of the Garnet Classic with a 3-1 victory over Cabrini in pool play in Tarble Pavilion on Saturday morning.
The Garnet won the first game easily, 30-7, but the Cavaliers (6-2) came right back to take a tight second game, 30-27. Swarthmore, behind excellent play from middle blocker Katie Gold '08 and outside hitter Erica George '07, cruised to a 30-22 win in game three. Outside hitter Jennifer Wang '09 closed out the match by ripping a kill down the line as the Garnet won game four by a score of 30-25.
Swarthmore will resume play in pool A at 1:00 p.m against Kean College.
Rutgers-Newark defeated Alvernia College 3-0 in the first match of pool B.
