Sciences Out-weigh Garnet

The University of Sciences (5-2), a Division II opponent, outlasted Swarthmore in Philadelphia on Thursday evening, winning 3-1 for their fourth straight victory.

The Blue Devils won a squeaker in game one, 31-29, before gaining control of the match with a 30-25 win in game two.

Swarthmore (4-2) came back to take the third game, 30-28, but succumbed in the fourth game, 30-24.

Middle blocker Katie Gold '08 had an outstanding game, tying for the team-high with Erica George '07, registering 13 kills on the night. Jennifer Wang '09 led Swarthmore with 22 digs and four aces, while middle blocker Karen Berk '08 posted a team-high five blocks. Senior setter Emily Conlon racked up 42 assists while running the offense.

Swarthmore hosts the 3rd annual Garnet Classic this Saturday, September 17 welcoming Alvernia, Cabrini, Kean, William Paterson, and Rutgers-Newark. The first match begins at 9:00 a.m. in Tarble Pavilion.
