Graffeo, Reese Launch At Delaware Invitational
Sam Graffeo '07 establish a personal best in the shot and Heather Reese '07 set a record in the pole vault at the Delaware Invitational hosted by the University of Delaware on Saturday afternoon.
Graffeo heaved the shot put 34' 9 3/4", out-distancing her previous high-water mark, 33' 10 1/4", by almost a full foot. The toss ranks fifth-longest in school history; Cristi Charpentier aired out the shot at a distance of 36' 11.25" in 1982.
Reese cleared a height of 8' 6 1/4", passing Sarah Kate Selling's previous Swarthmore record of 8' 6" set in 2003, finishing in fourth place.
Kavita Hardy '08, who missed the Danny Curran Invite with a twisted ankle, came back strong in the 1500 meter race in Delaware. The freshman finished seventh out of twenty-seven runners, finishing with a strong time of 5:09.83.
The Garnet women travel back down Rt. 320 for their next competition, compete in the Widener Invitational on April 16th, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
