Blair Saves The Day, Garnet edge Hawks

Freshman goalie Susannah Blair '08 made an impressive debut, making the game-saving stop with 30 seconds left, propelling the Garnet to a 12-11 victory over St. Anselm College (NH) on Friday afternoon in Orlando, FL.

Lindsay Roth '07, the leading freshman scorer in the Centennial Conference in 2004, picked up where she left off, scoring a team-high four goals as Swarthmore (1-0) opened their 2005 season on spring break in Florida.

Tri-captain Ele Forbes '05 scored the game-winning goal, one of three of the day for the senior midfielder. Forbes added an assist while junior midfielder Heidi Feiselmann mirrored her teammate with a hat-trick and an assist. Tri-captain Megan Speare '05 scored a goal and handed out two assists, while freshman Megan Sanborn notched the first goal of her career.

Blair and the Garnet took a 6-3 lead at halftime and behind 12 saves from the rookie goalie, held on to defeat the Hawks (0-2).

Swarthmore return to eastern Pennsylvania in preparation for a 4:00 p.m. road match at Moravian College on Tuesday, March 15th.
