Lee, Garnet Trap Bears

Kristen Lee '05 equaled her career-high of 18 points to lead the Garnet to a 63-49 Centennial Conference victory at Ursinus.

Lee got the Garnet off to a fast start, scoring 15 of her game-high 18 points in the first half. The co-captain was 6-of-12 from the floor, connecting on 3-of-4 3-point attempts to give the Garnet a 40-20 lead at intermission.

Swarthmore shot a season-best 47.1% from the floor in the first half connecting on 16-of-34 attempts, including 5-of-11 from beyond the arc to build the insurmountable lead.

The Bears used a 13-5 run to start the second half closing to within 45-33, but the Garnet scored the next seven points on a Cara Tigue '06 layup, a Karen Berk '08 jumper and Lee's fourth triple of the night to put the game out of reach.

Jessica Fuhr '07 came off the bench to score 10 points and Berk, Ali Wolf '05 and Radiance Walters '06 each added eight points. Debbie Farrelly '06 added six points, recorded a career-high five steals and matched her career best with six assists. Walters pulled down a game-high 13 boards as the Garnet improve to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the Centennial.

Sarah Hennessey led the Bears with 18 points as they fall to 1-3 overall, 0-2 in the conference.

Friday, the Garnet travel to Bryn Mawr for the Seven Sisters Tournament. Swarthmore battles St. Joseph's (CT) at 8 pm.
