McDaniel Terrorize Garnet 66-49

First-year forward Karen Berk recorded her first career double-double with a game-high 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Garnet in a 66-49 loss at McDaniel.

For the second consecutive game Swarthmore struggled to find its shooting touch from the floor, hitting just 18 of 60 attempts (30%), while the Terror hit 27 of 57 for 47.4%.

Things looked promising midway through the first half as the Garnet held its largest lead at 14-9 with 9:50 remaining. McDaniel then closed out the half on a 16-6 run to take a 25-20 lead into the half.

Jen Stevenson '06 opened the second half with a jumper and a 3-pointer to tie the Game at 25-25 with 16:45 remaining in the game. McDaniel built a seven point lead before a Debbie Farrelly '06 3-pointer and a Berk layup got the Garnet to within 40-37 with 10:07 remaining in the game.

That was as close as the Garnet would get as McDaniel used a 20-3 run to up a 20-point lead with 4:36 left on the clock.

Sara Franz and Brooke Weimer each led McDaniel with 10 points and Jacqueline Pundt added eight points and a game-high 15 rebounds.

Farrelly added eight points and Stevenson and Radiance Walters '06 each chipped in with seven.

Swarthmore returns to action next Tuesday at Ursinus in a 7pm Centennial match up.
