Chwastyk Records 100th Victory with 3-0 Rout of Bryn Mawr

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore volleyball team (13-4, 3-1 CC) went on a 7-0 run capped off by four straight aces from sophomore Allison Coleman to win game three and take down conference opponent Bryn Mawr (6-8, 2-3 CC) 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-17) on Thursday night in Tarble Pavilion.

The win marked head coach Harleigh Chwastyk's 100th career victory at Swarthmore College.

Coleman had four straight aces to end the match.

After winning the first two sets in dominant fashion, game three would be neck and neck before a Coleman would almost single handedly  end the Bryn Mawr threat to extend the match.

Swarthmore's 7-0 run would start with a kill from sophomore Kat Montemurro but would end with two kills from junior Genny Pezzola and two assists and four aces from Coleman.

Coleman finished the game with eight kills, 28 assists and four aces.

Pezzola and Montemurro would lead the Garnet offense throughout the match. Pezzola blasted 14 kills, two assists and an ace while Montemurro dropped 10 kills and two assists.

Freshmen Danielle Sullivan (6) and Maggie Duszyk (6) combined for 12 kills while Sullivan would add three service aces to Swat's nine in the game.

Senior Sarah Lambert added 11 assists for the Swarthmore offensive and picked up six digs.

Junior Hillary Santana was fantastic for the Garnet on defense with 21 digs and countless diving saves in the game to keep play alive.

Swarthmore had an amazing 69 digs in the game; three players with double digit digs.  Along with Santana, Pezzola would pick up 14 digs and junior Lisa Shang would record 10.

The Garnet volleball team will try too keep its momentum going when it visits Dickinson on Saturday for another Centennial Conference match-up.  Play is set to begin at 12:00 PM.
