Garnet Men Solidify No. 2 Ranking in National Polls
Kansas City, Kan. - The Swarthmore College men's soccer team (9-0-1, 3-0-1) rose to No. 2 in the latest NSCAA/HendrickCars.com National Poll - a new program high - and held steady at No. 2 in the D3Soccer.com Poll, the organizations announced on Tuesday.
Last week, Swarthmore hit the road for a pair of Centennial Conference contests, defeating Washington College (1-0) on Wednesday and earning a 1-1 draw at Gettysburg on Saturday. At Washington, a goal from junior Micah Rose in the 35th minute proved to be the difference, while senior Morgan Langley netted the game-tying goal in the 70th minute to earn the tie against the Bullets.
Swarthmore also remained No. 1 in the Mid-Atlantic Region for the third consecutive week.
The Garnet continue the best start in program history, surpassing the 1966 squad - which finished the season a perfect 9-0 - for longest unbeaten streak to start a season in team history.
The No. 2 Garnet return to action this Saturday from Clothier Field Stadium against Ursinus. Action is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
