Garnet Track Teams Compete at Penn Relays, Haverford Midweek
PHILADELPHIA - Competing against schools from the Centennial and MAC conferences, the Swarthmore College women's track & field 4x400 team - consisting of sophomore Kenyetta Givans, freshman Rebecca Hammond, sophomore Margret Lenfest, and senior Erin Ronhovde - took fourth place with a time of 4:06.59 from the historic Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia on Thursday evening.
With just a little over one week until the Centennial Conference Championships, the 4x400 team flexed its muscles, besting Centennial woes from Johns Hopkins (6th/4:07.53) and Gettysburg (10th/4:09.66). Haverford finished in first place with a time of 3:59.46, while Franklin & Marshall finished second(4:00.82).
Several other members of the Garnet also saw midweek action, participating in the 2010 Haverford Midweek Meet on Wednesday.
On the women's side, sophomore Naomi Glassman earned a personal-best distance in the discus with a toss of 21.35m. For the men, sophomore Daniel Ly led the triple jump field with a jump of 12.88m.
The Garnet return to action Saturday with the Lions' Invitational from TCNJ.
