Errors Doom Garnet in 2-1 Loss to PSU Abington

BOX SCORE

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Six infield errors led to the fall of the Swarthmore College baseball team (18-13, 10-6 CC) on Sunday afternoon as the Penn State Abington Lions (13-18, 5-5 NEAC) would upset the Garnet 2-1 on Clothier Field.

Weiner struck out six and allowed only two hits in Sunday's loss.

Despited a day of errors and lack of offense, sophomore starting pitcher Zach Weiner threw seven great innings on the mound for Swat.  Weiner would only allow two hits while fanning six batters and would not allow an earned run.

Freshman Bryce Codell would score Swarthmore's lone run on Sunday afternoon off of an RBI single from sophomore Mike Waterhouse in the bottom of the third inning.

Swat had several opportunities to put runs on the board, leaving nine runners on base.  On four occasions the Garnet had runners in scoring position but were unable to capitalize.

The stagnent Swarthmore offense were held to only five hits while PSU's starting pitcher would fan seven batters.

Codell highlighted the Garnet offense going one-for-two with a run scored.

The Swarthmore baseball team returns to the diamond on Tuesday April 20 as it travels to DeSales University.  Play is slated to begin at 3:30 PM.
