Sea Gulls Fly Past Garnet Tennis 8-1
SALISBURY, Md. - Sophomore Rosie DuBrin picked up a victory out of No.3 singles, but it wasn't enough for the Swarthmore College women's tennis team, as Salisbury defeated the Garnet 8-1 on Thursday afternoon.
The loss is the Garnet's (2-1) first defeat of the 2010 season.
In No. 1 singles, Salisbury's Jackie Burr topped senior Rachel Wallwork 6-3, 6-4. For Wallwork, the No. 28 singles player in the region, the lose was her first of the 2010 season.
DuBrin got the Garnet going in No. 3 singles, defeating Kelly Fahrner 6-0, 6-2. But couldn't get back on the board after that, losing three tight doubles contests (9-7, 8-6, 8-4)
Swarthmore returns to the Mullan Center on Saturday, hosting both Mary Washington (9:30 a.m.) and Bryn Mawr (3:00 p.m.).
