Swarthmore Women Down Oberlin 8-1
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore women's tennis team (2-0) blew by the Oberlin College Yeowomen (3-4) on Sunday afternoon winning eight of the nine matches of the day in the Mullan Center.
The Garnet women put themselves on the fast track after going unbeaten in doubles play to start the day. Senior Rachel Wallwork and freshman Emily Rosenblum got Swarthmore going with a decisive 8-1 victory over Oberlin's Ariel Lewis and Finley Gates.
Wallwork and Rosenblum met the Oberlin pair again in singles action with Wallwork facing off against Lewis and Rosenblum with Gates. Wallwork took down Lewis in straight sets 6-2 and 6-3 while Rosenblum defeated Gates 6-3 and 6-2.
Sophomore Rosie DuBrin and freshmen Kelsey Johnson and Stephanie Chia rounded out the meet with three big wins of their own, all winning in straight sets.
The Garnet women will return to action when on Thursday March 11 when they travel to Salisbury for spring break play. Action is slated to begin at 3:30 PM.
