Garnet Badminton Smashes Its Way to Victory, 7-2

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The Swarthmore badminton team (2-1) defeated Bryn Athyn College 7-2 on Thursday night.  Senior Kim Kramer led the Garnet with a dominating win over Ethan Daum 21-14 and 21-18.

The winning mentality trickled down to the rest of the team as the Garnet were just one match short of completing a clean sweep of singles. Junior Maithili Parikh played an impressive match as she handled Mick Pokonny for the  21-13, 21-13 win.

Also capturing a singles win for the Garnet was senior Alice Xiang.

Swarthmore went on to win both doubles matches with the dynamic duos of Kramer and Parikh along with senior  May Maani and freshman Corrinne Englebent.

The Swarthmore badminton team returns to action Monday February 8th with a grudge match against Bryn Athyn in Tarble Pavilion.  The shuttlecock flies at 7 PM.
