Swarthmore Falls to No. 12 Muhlenberg 69-54

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore women's basketball team (7-10, 4-8 CC) hoped to upset the visiting No. 12 Muhlenberg Mules, (13-2, 10-1 CC) but a 12-2 run to start the second half stunted the Garnet's chances as the Mules controlled the second half to earn a 69-54 victory on Monday night in Tarble Pavilion.

Despite the loss, junior Kathryn Stockbower continued her all-american quest posting her 57th career double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds.  The double-double marks her eighth consecutive and 15th of the year.  Stockbower also moved into third all-time at Swarthmore in career rebounds with 914, surpassing 2008 graduate Karen Berk.

Sophomore Genny Pezzola had another big game dropping three 3-pointers and 11 points in the game.  Pezzola has now hit double digits in three straight games.

Swarthmore was in the game and down only six when the second half began but a 3-pointer by Muhlenberg's Alexandra Chili capped off the early 12-2 run to put the Mules up 17 less than five minutes into the half.

Chili, the reigning Centennial Conference Player of the Week, drained five from outside the arc and led the Mules with 16 points.

Along with Chili, two other Muhlenberg players hit double digits to keep the Garnet offense chasing the lead.

Senior Pam Costello had another solid game for the Garnet putting up five points, three assists and pulling down two rebounds.

The Garnet women return to the court on Wednesday when the face-off against Bryn Mawr College at Haverford. Tip-off is at 7 PM.
