Swat Relay Wins Gold

LANCASTER, Pa. -- The Swarthmore women's 4x800 team earned first place at the Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Franklin & Marshall.

The Garnet 4x800 held steady with senior Kathy Feeney (Staatsburg, N.Y. / F.D. Roosevelt High School) starting off the blocks first she passed the baton to freshman Hannah Rose (Cronton-Hudson, N.Y. / Croton-Harmon). The team opened up the race with freshman Margret Lenfest (Birchrunville, Pa. / The Shipley School) and closed in the gold medal with senior Caitlin Mullarkey (Wilmington, Del. / Ursuline Academy) crossing the line with 9:29.86 on the clock.

Three Garnet runners qualified for their respective hurdle events first staring with freshman Kenyetta Givans (Conshohocken, Pa. / Plymouth-Whitemarsh) in the 100-meter hurdles, sophomore Chris Mayer-Bacon (Wenonah, N.J. / Gateway Regional) finished ninth in the 110 and 400-meter hurdles while Feigen will run in the 400-meter hurdles tomorrow.

Mullarkey finished first in the women’s 800-meter run to qualify for the finals.
