Garnet Run at Danny Curran
CHESTER, Pa. -- Six Swarthmore track and field student-athletes registered career-bests at the annual Danny Curran Invitational on the campus of Widener University this weekend.
Garnet senior Kathy Feeney (Staatsburg, N.Y. / F.D. Roosevelt High School) set the pace, posting a personal best 18:46.41 in the women’s 5,000-meter while freshman Hannah Rose (Cronton-Hudson, N.Y. / Croton-Harmon) and sophomore Ada Okun (New York City, N.Y. / Stuyvestsant) both registered PRs with times of 18:52.14 and 19:22.07, respectively.
In the women’s 1,500-meter run, senior Bess Ritter (Quaker Hill, Conn. / Waterford) clocked a 4:58.72 personal best to place 10th in the event. Sophomore Rebecca Woo (Davis, Calif. / Davis Senior) also had a career-best time, crossing the finish line at 5:12.26.
Senior Natalie Stone (Philadelphia, Pa. / Friends Select) entered the Garnet top-ten list at number 10 with a 1:02.13 time in the women’s 400-meter dash.
Junior Mariel Feign (East Greenwich, R.I. / FDR) finished the women’s 400-meter with 1:07.05 showing on the clock, before completing the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:11.78.
In the field events, freshman Nicole Cox (Los Gatos, Calif. / Castillejia School) tied a collegiate-best 1.51-meter high jump. Taylor vaulted 2.6-meters in the women’s pole vault.
Sophomore Chris Mayer-Bacon (Wenonah, N.J. / Gateway Regional) ran in both the 400-meter dash and 400-meter hurdles with times of 55.50 second and 1:00.27.
Senior Dan Hodson (Trumbull, Conn. / Fairfield Prep) placed 10th in the men’s 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.75 while classmate Erik Saka (Quincy, Ill. / Quincy) crossed the finish line at 2:03.39.
In the men’s triple jump freshman Daniel Ly (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) leaped to a 12.7-meter.
The Garnet will travel to Richard Stockton to compete in the Osprey Open on Saturday, April 4th. The first race is set for 10:00 a.m.
