Bullets Shoot Past Garnet

SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Nationally-ranked  Gettysburg topped Swarthmore, 18-6, during Centennial Conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Clothier Field.

The Bullets, ranked sixth in Division III, improved to a 6-0 overall, 2-0 in the Conference, while Swarthmore fell to 5-1 and 0-1 in the CC with the loss.

Gettysburg was led by junior attack Hollis Stahl with four goals and junior midfielder Jessica Crane who dished out three assists while tallying two goals.

The Gettysburg offense was on a hunt for goals this afternoon scoring 10 in the first half compared to Swarthmore’s three.

Garnet sophomore midfielder Amy Vachal (Somerset, N.J. / Rutgers Prep) tallied her 50th career goal before adding a second goal to the Garnet total.  Attack Marissa Schafer (Moreland Hill, Ohio / Laurel School) marked Swarthmore’s third goal of the half at 2:21 making the score 8-3 in favor of the Bullets.

The second half started with three Gettysburg goals before Swarthmore senior midfielder Melinda Petre (Columbia, Md. / Atholton) stalled the scoring streak with 18:36 showing on the clock, tallying her 10th goal of the season. The Bullets added an additional three goals to push the score to 16-4 with 13:07 remaining in the game.

The Garnet had back-to-back goals from senior midfielder Anna de Regt (Redmond, Wash. / Overlake School) and sophomore midfielder Emily Evans (Atlanta, Ga. / North Springs), de Regt’s goal was assisted by junior midfielder Abbe Muller (West Hartford, Conn. / Conard). The game was closed with two Bullets goals.

Junior goalie Kristen Krammer picked up the win for the Bullets with nine saves before sophomore Laura McIntyre subbed-in during the second half, collecting two saves.

Garnet junior goalie Allison Grein (Floral Park, N.Y. / Floral Park) had six saves a half while collecting six ground balls.

On Tuesday, March 24, the Garnet will travel to Gywnedd-Mercy for a non-conference contest. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
