Sizzling Mules Top Garnet
ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- Garnet wing Marc Rogalski '12 scored a career-high 14 points as Swarthmore fell to hot-shooting Muhlenberg, 79-53, Wednesday night at Memorial Hall in Centennial Conference men's basketball action.
Mules guard Ryan Foster led all scorers with 21 points while Brian Frankoski added 20 points.
Rogalski (Franklin Lakes, N.J. / Bergen Catholic) hit 6-of-13 shots in 19 minutes, topping his previous high of 12. Fellow wing Danny Walker ’10 (Westbury, N.Y. / Westbury) added 11 points, including a 5-of-6 effort from the line.
The Mules (13-9, 9-6 CC) torched the nets in the game, hitting four triples in a five-minute span to open a 23-6 lead at the 12-minute mark. Frankoski was the main culprit, hitting his first five attempts from the field while Foster dropped in a five first-half triples.
Muhlenberg rolled through the first twenty minutes hitting half of its shots from the floor for a 48-23 lead at the intermission. Foster led all scorers with 16 points while Frankoski dropped in 13 points with five assists.
Rogalski brought firepower off the bench, leading the visitors with seven points. Fellow “G-boy” Mike Giannangeli (Potomac, Md. / Winston Churchill) had the stroke going, dropping in a pair of first-half triples. He would finish with nine points on the night.
The offense clicked for Muhlenberg through much of the second half as the home team defended their court as nine players hit the scoring column.
Swarthmore (1-20, 0-15 CC) returns home to Tarble Pavilion this weekend, appearing on campus for the first time in two weeks. The Garnet will host Gettysburg as part of a Centennial doubleheader with the women. Swarthmore will host its annual Alumni Game at 11:30 a.m. with the varsity contest to tip at approximately 4:00 p.m.
