Swat Hurdles Competition in Chester

CHESTER, Pa. -- Swarthmore hurdler Kenyetta Givans '12 won the 55-meter indoor event Saturday afternoon at the Widener Indoor Invite.

Givans (Conshohocken, Pa. / Plymouth-Whitemarsh) has burst on the scene for the Garnet, recently brushing up against the school indoor hurdles record with the second-fastest time record in the 2008-09 Centennial indoor season.  On Saturday, she bested four other entrants with a time of 8.91 for her first collegiate victory.

Chris Mayer-Bacon '11 (Wenonah, N.J. / Gateway Regional) broke through the ten-second barrier in the men's 55-meter hurdles,  earning him a spot in the Conference meet at Ursinus College at the end of February.

The Garnet squad will see members compete in the annual Haverford Quad on Monday and others make the weekend trip to Boston University this coming weekend for the Valentine Invite.
