Red Devils Down Garnet

CARLISLE, Pa. -- The Dickinson men's basketball team collected a 71-52 win over Swarthmore in Centennial Conference action at the Cline Center Saturday afternoon.

Swarthmore (1-9, 0-14 CC) was led by senior forward Raul Ordonez (Miami, Fla. / Belen Jesuit Prep), who marked a team-high 17 points and six rebounds. Junior forward Danny Walker (Westbury, N.J. / Westbury) added nine points and had a game-high three steals.

Dickinson evened its record at 10-10 overall and went to 4-10 in the Conference as three starters scored in double digits. Senior forward Tom Leszczynski registered a double-double with game-highs 19 points and 19 rebounds, senior guard Kizmahr Grell scored 17 points while sophomore teammate Pat Kerns added 15 points.

The game started with the Red Devils scoring the first 11 points of the game, but at 14:22 Garnet freshman forward Marc Rogalski (Franklin Lakes, N.J. / Bergen Catholic) powered a 7-0 run for the Garnet, making the score 11-7.

The following six minutes, the two teams exchanged baskets as Dickinson would push their largest lead of the half to 13 points on three different occasions.

The second half started with Swarthmore trailing by 10 points, but a 9-2 run to cut the deficit to 41-37 in favor of the Red Devils, with 16:58 remaining.

Dickinson extended their lead to 20 points at 8:41 with 60-40 showing on the board following a 13-3 run. They would maintain the 20-plus lead margin for the remainder of the game.

The Garnet continue their three-game road trip as they head to Allentown to face Muhlenberg on Wednesday night. The Conference game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
