Garnet Take Down Green Terror
SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- The Swarthmore swim teams swept McDaniel to open their Centennial Conference schedule on Saturday afternoon, the women posted a 112-84 win while the men won 101-83.
The Swarthmore women improved to 2-0 overall while picking up their first Conference win of the season as the men evened out at 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the Centennial. Both McDaniel teams fell to 0-1, 0-1 CC.
Garnet freestyle specialist Chelsea Brett '11 (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Trinity) picked-up wins in the 50 (26.45) and 100-yard free (57.74), while anchoring the 200 medley relay (1:58.37) to lead the Swarthmore women. Other members of the 200 medley included sophomore Stephanie Su (Parsippany, N.J. / Parsippany Hills), junior Casey Osborn (Albany, Calif. / Albany), and senior captain Allie Jordan (Niskayuna, N.Y. / Niskayuna). Osborn (200 IM, 2:21.59) and Jordan (100 Butterfly, 1:01.81) also picked up wins in other events to help the home team fend off the Green Terror.
The Garnet men were led by senior captain Doug Gilchrist-Scott (Canton, Ohio / Hoover) who contributed wins in the 50 free (22.24), 200 medley relay (1:43.13), and 200 free relay (1:32.13). The other double-winner for the Garnet was Tim Brevart ’12 (Swarthmore, Pa. / Strath Haven), who complimented the win in the 200 medley relay with a triumph in the 100 freestyle (50.77).
The Garnet resume their home stand with men’s and women’s meets versus Franklin & Marshall Saturday November 15. Action at Ware Pool gets underway at 2:00 p.m..
