Garnet Golf Opens in Central Pa

LEBANON, Pa. -- The Swarthmore golf team kicked off the fall schedule at the Lebanon Valley College Fall Invitational, placing 19th out of the 23 teams hitting the Lebanon Valley Country Club layout on Sept. 22.

Cabrini took top team honors with a 295, followed closely by Franklin & Marshall (297) and Rutgers-Camden (297).  The Garnet posted a team score of 343 despite starting three freshmen.

First-year Alex Nichamin (Brookville, Pa. / Brookville) paced Swarthmore with an 82 at the 6,564-yard course.  Classmate Paul Weston followed with an 86 while junior Kelly Schoolmeester (Irmo, S.C. / Irmo), pictured left, carded an 87.  Freshman Alex Leichter rounded out the Swarthmore scoring with an 88.

The Garnet return to central Pennsylvania in two weeks, participating in the Bent Creek Invitational hosted by Franklin & Marshall.  Tee-time at the Bent Creek Country Club is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
