Weimar Named Defensive Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Swarthmore junior Zach Weimar was named Centennial Conference men's soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the Conference office on Tuesday afternoon.

In the opening week for the Garnet, Weimar (Rutledge, Pa. / Friends Central) posted eight saves and did not allow a goal in 194 minutes between the posts. On August 30 against Richard Stockton, Weimar made three acrobatic saves to keep the game scoreless. Following the Garnet Alumni Classic he was named to the All-Tournament team.

As a result of Swarthmore’s win against Skidmore on August 29 and their 0-0 double overtime draw against Richard Stockton, the team (1-0-1) is ranked 24th in this week’s NSCAA/adidas Division III poll and third in the Middle Atlantic region.
