Swarthmore Women Scatter Owls

SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- The Garnet women's tennis team cruised to their third consecutive Centennial win, overtaking Bryn Mawr 9-0 in the Michael Mullan Tennis Center Wednesday afternoon.

Rachel Wallwork ’10, Jennie Park ’09, Alexis Hickman ’11, Sophia Gall ‘09 and Kearney Bangs ’10 all won twice as Swarthmore moved to 3-1 overall and 3-0 in the Conference.

Wallwork and Park combined for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles and then swept through their singles matches, winning 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1, respectively.

Commito and Hickman paired for an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles and Hickman continued her strong effort with 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 4.

Bangs and Gall registered an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles and won their singles’ matches at No. 5 and No.6 by super-set scores of 8-4 and 9-7, respectively.

The Garnet return to the court on Tuesday, March 25, traveling to defending Centennial champion Johns Hopkins for a 4:30 p.m. match.
