Garnet Find Silver Lining at Centennial Championships
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- The Swarthmore indoor track and field team competed in the Centennial Conference Championships this past weekend hosted by Ursinus College.
Cait Mullarkey '09 (Wilmington, Del. / Ursuline) earned a silver medal in the women's 800 meter run with a race-time of 2:17.58, she enters the Swarthmore top-ten list holding the seventh-best time. Connor Darby '09 (Nashville, Tenn. / MLK) placed seventh in the men’s 800 meter running it in 1:59.20.
The women’s 3,000 meter run was standout race with Garnet sophomore Nyika Corbett (Myrtle Point, Ore. / Myrtle Point) earning a silver medal with a race-time of 10:37.71, running right behind Johns Hopkins junior Rachel Hogen (Tarzana, Calif. /Harvard-Westlake) who took the gold in 10:27.97. Corbett's finish was good for a school top-ten time ranking at sixth.
The women’s distance medley team picked up the third Garnet silver medal crossed the line at 12:41.58, running in the team was Corbett, Lauren DeLuca ’10 (Audubon, Pa. / Kennedy-Kenrick Catholic), Bess Ritter ’09 (Quaker Hill, Conn. / Waterford), and Mullarkey.
Haverford College took both the women’s and men’s championship titles with scores of 166 and 144.5, respectively.
