Kurman Named Centennial Player of the Week
LANCASTER, Pa. - Swarthmore guard Matt Kurman '08 was named Centennial Conference (CC) Co-Player of the Week for men's basketball on Feb. 25, as announced by the Conference office.
Kurman (Rockville, Mary. / Walter Johnson) averaged 24.5 points per game in two close defeats while shooting 60.7 percent (17-for-28) from the floor and 63.2 (12-for-19) from three-point range. He had a career night at Washington (Mary.) on February 20, scoring 32 points (a career-high) with seven three-pointers. Kurman came back with five more triples against Haverford on February 23 for 17 points to go along with four assists.
Kurman finishes the season second in the Centennial with 91 assists (career-high) and 17th in points with 11.4 per game (also a career-high).
On February 20, Kurman became the 17th player in program history to score 1,000 points for a career. He concludes his four years at Swarthmore 14th all-time with 1,033 points while ranking third with both 163 three-pointers and 278 assists.
Swarthmore completed 2007-08 with a 6-19 overall record, 2-16 in the Centennial.
