Sutcliffe Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Swarthmore senior Ryan Sutcliffe was selected to ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II men's soccer team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Sutcliffe is a first-team selection and is headed to the national ballot, set to be voted on next week.

The District II College Division consists of all NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA colleges and universities in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. To be nominated for the team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and a starter or significant reserve on his team.

Sutcliffe, a goalkeeper, was recently selected All-Centennial forthe first time (he made the second team). The senior net-minder had a 9-3-3 record in 2007, ranking in the top-five in the Conference in shutouts (five) and goals-against average (0.82). Sutcliffe was named Centennial Defensive Player of the Week and Division III E.C.A.C. South Region Defensive Player of the Week on two separate occasions, as well as appearing on the D3Kicks.com Team of the Week.

Sutcliffe, a psychology major, has also been selected for the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for the second consecutive year. He appeared on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Stars in 2006, joining two of his teammates selected by the 28 Philadelphia-area sports information directors.
