Mullarkey Named CoSIDA Academic All-District
SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Swarthmore junior Cait Mullarkey was selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II women's soccer team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Mullarkey is a third-team selection.
The District II College Division consists of all NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA colleges and universities in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. To be nominated for the team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and a starter or significant reserve on his team.
Mullarkey, a defender, was honored as a Centennial Defensive Player of the Week during the week of Sept. 17th. Swarthmore's backfield ranks 11th in Division III for goals-against average (0.38).
Mullarkey, a biology major in the honors program, is active on the Student Activities Advisory Board and participates in cell biology research on campus.
The Garnet (12-2-1 overall, 7-2-1 CC) will make their second consecutive appearance in the Centennial playoffs. The Swarthmore women are the No. 3 seed and will face second-seeded Ursinus, in the second semi-final at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 3 in Baltimore, Md.
