Peterson Named Centennial Conference Player of the Week



SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore midfielder Kirsten Peterson (Fenton, Mich./ Powers Catholic) was selected as the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week announced Monday, Oct. 15th.

Peterson, a freshman, had a goal and two assists in a 2-0 week for the Garnet,. She assisted on Swarthmore's first goal in a 2-1 overtime win at Muhlenberg on Oct. 10, then followed up with a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win at Villa Julie on Oct. 13.

Peterson leads Swarthmore with six assists in 2007, fifth in the Centennial Conference.

Peterson is the third women's soccer player from Swarthmore to receive a Centennial weekly honor. Forward Danielle Tocchet '08 was selected Offensive Player of the Week twice (Sept. 5th and Oct. 2), while goalkeeper Lauren Walker '09 (Sept. 5) and defender Cait Mullarkey '09  (Sept. 19) earned Centennial Defensive Player of the Week honors.

The Swarthmore women's soccer team has a 10-1 overall record, (5-1 in the Centennial) and is ranked nationally for the first time in program history. The Garnet are 22nd in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) / adidas poll, listing fourth in the Middle Atlantic region.
