Mullarkey Named CC Defensive Player of the Week

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore junior Cait Mullarkey (Wilmington, Del. / Ursuline Academy) has been named Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the Conference office on Sept. 17.

Mullarkey, a defender, is the leader of a Garnet unit that was the last team in all of Division III to allow a goal in 2007 (a stretch of 381:34), and currently boasts a Centennial-best goals-against average of 0.20. Swarthmore opened their Centennial schedule on Sept. 15, blanking rival Dickinson 2-0. Mullarkey helped limit the offensive chances of Red Devils' forward Lisa Nichols (two shots), the Centennial's leading scorer in 2007 (five goals, seven assists), in the Swarthmore victory.

Mullarkey is the fourth Swarthmore soccer player to earn a CC Weekly honor in 2007-goalkeeper Ryan Sutcliffe '08, forward Danielle Tocchet '08, and goalkeeper Lauren Walker '09 have also been honored.

Swarthmore is a perfect 5-0-0 in 2007, including a 1-0-0 mark in Conference action.

Mullarkey, an Honors biology major, is a member of the Student Activities Advisory Board and participates in cell biology research on campus.
