Tocchet Nets Two at Swat Kick Classic

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Garnet senior forward Danielle Tocchet (West Point, N.Y. / James. I. O'Neill) scored twice as Swarthmore defeated Neumann 3-0 on the second day of play at the 12th annual Swat Kick Classic Sunday afternoon. Catholic (1-1) used a strong offensive attack to take down Villa Julie 2-0 in the first game of the day.

Catholic started the second day of games out-shooting the Mustangs (1-1) by 11-1 in the first half. Cardinals' junior Elyse Bellardini (Wayne, N.J. / Wayne Valley) chipped the ball in the back of the net for an unassisted goal with 14:54 on the clock. Catholic continued to fire away, getting an unassisted score from junior forward Suzie Peters (Nanuet, N.Y. / Albertus Magnus) at 82:59 to ensure the victory. The Cardinals out-shot the Mustangs by a margin of 29-3.

Catholic netminder Tere Rossi (Annandale, Va. / Falls Church) posted one save for her first shut-out of the season while Villa Julie goal keeper Casey Brown '10 (Poolesville, Md. / Westminster) had 13 saves for the Mustangs.

In the second match of the morning, Swarthmore (2-0) scored two goals in the first half to assume the early lead. Tocchet scored her first goal, unassisted, at 6:40 into the match. Swarthmore sophomore Julia Luongo (Tallahasse, Fla. / Powers Catholic) nailed the crossbar on a shot attempt and Tocchet followed with a chip-in for her second goal of the day. The third goal came from sophomore forward Caitlin O'Neil '10 (Del Mar, Calif. / The Bishop's School).a crisp cross by midfielder Lizbeeth Lopez (Sacramento, Calif. / West Campus), after a long feed from freshman midfielder Kirsten Peterson (Fenton, Mich. / Powers Catholic).

All-Tournament selection Lauren Walker '09 (Fallston, Md. / Hotchkiss School) continued her solid work guarding the net combining with captain Kristen Traband '08 (Swarthmore, Pa. / Ridley) for the team's second shut-out.

Garnet freshman Megan Colombo was named All-TOurnament.

The Knight's goalie Caitlin Agnew '10 (Philadelphia, Pa. / Little Flower) had a busy day in the net, posting 11 saves.
