Garnet Named to All-Academic Team

Recently awarded as one of the 58 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic teams in NCAA Division III, the nationally-ranked Swarthmore women's tennis program had six individuals recognized. Waverly Lutz '07, Marissa Matthews '07, Jamie Midyette '08, Sara Sargent '07, Federica von Euw '07 and Rachel Wallwork '10 all were the appointed as ITA Scholar Athletes.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). Sargent and Reynolds, who were nationally ranked at number 24, became the first Swarthmore doubles pair to be named All-America. The doubles team also received All-Centennial First Team honors after posting a 4-1 mark in 2007.

Lutz and Sargent were both selected for the 2007 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area women's tennis team. Lutz accumulated a singles' record of 9-10 (7-0 in Centennial) this past season and 16-6 in doubles' play.

Swarthmore (13-7) was ranked 18th nationally and seventh in the Atlantic South Region in the final FILA ITA rankings.
