Three Garnet Make All-Centennial Team



2007 ALL-CENTENNIAL TEAMS

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Swarthmore College women's lacrosse players Melissa Grigsby, Megan Sanborn and Lindsay Roth were named to the 2007 All-Centennial Conference team.  Sanborn was named to the second team while Roth and Grigsby were honorable mention selections in a vote by the conference coaches as announced Tuesday. 

Lindsay Roth '07 is the sixth Swarthmore female to make All-Centennial three times.

Sanborn, a junior midfielder, posted career-highs for points (41), goals (22), and assists (19) while ranking 11th in the Centennial in assists per game (1.05).  She finished the regular season tied for second in the Conference with 1.82 caused turnovers per game (31 total on the season).  Sanborn led the team in five categories--draw controls (50), ground balls (47), caused turnovers, assists and game-winning goals (3).

Roth, a senior midfielder and team captain, overcame an early-season ankle injury to finish second on the team in goals (27) and fourth in points (32).  An English literature major who made the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll three times, Roth completes her college career eighth all-time at Swarthmore with 127 goals and ninth with 153 points. 

Sophomore Melissa Grigsby was second on the team with 46 ground balls.

This is Roth's third All-Centennial selection; she was named to the second team in 2006 and selected as honorable mention in 2005.  Roth is the sixth Swarthmore women's lacrosse player to be named All-Centennial three times.

Grigsby, a sophomore defender, earns her first All-Centennial selection after leading the Swarthmore defensive unit.  She was second on the team with 46 ground balls and 34 draw controls while adding three assists.  
 
Swarthmore completed the 2007 season with a record of 11-7 overall and 4-5 in the Centennial.
